This is heaven for people who love carriages. The exhibit on bootlegging and the prohibition was really interesting and well structured.
I have not been to this museum in over 20 years. It has changed and expanded. The exhibition of carriages is extensive. I think it would enhance the experience to have docent tours once or twice a day. As there is so much to see in the carriage exhibit halls that it becomes overwhelming reading all the placards.There also is an a separate art museum and art installations on the property. The mobile sculptures and the crocheted tree cover art installation were impressive.
The carriage connection is a must see! Overall very clean and organized. I would definitely want to take visitors to LI here.

Thought i would spend an hour visiting, stayed for three and I'm planning my return visit. Great if you love local Long Island history or history in general. The Art House was being renovated but I was able to walk in to the entry and peek at some neat stuff. Military discount available.
